The ACB officers stated that the sub-inspector demanded the bribe quantity from a journey agency proprietor in a prohibition case after a police seized illicit liquor from a luxurious bus owned by the agency.
“The accused police officer had referred to as the workers of the travels firm and threatened to ebook him underneath the prohibition case. The accused police officer then requested for the identify of firm proprietor and threatened to ebook him as nicely underneath the prohibition case. The accused then demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh for not including the identify of the agency proprietor within the FIR. Later, the bribe quantity was settled to Rs 3 lakh,” stated a senior official of Gujarat ACB.
“After the travels firm workers spoke to his proprietor, the latter paid the inspector Rs 1,70,000 which was then handed over to the accused police officer by Jiauddin Saiyyed on August 1. The accused officer then demanded the remaining Rs 1,30,000. It was then that the travels firm workers approached the ACB and a lure was set,” the official added.
