Around this time of year, flights to somewhere warm — preferably with golden or white sand and crystalline waters — start to sound very good. If you’re jonesing after a beach vacation, now’s a great time to book a flight to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The resort town sits at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and offers a lot to vacationers desiring a beachy place to warm up this winter.
Right now, we’re seeing flights over at Kayak via Alaska Airlines for less than $300. Since it’s Alaska Airlines, you’ll get a carry-on included in your flight, which means you don’t have to skimp on outfits (or, more importantly for this trip, swimwear). Most of the flights have a connection at LAX, but a few of the journeys go nonstop — check your specific timetable for the setup.
Here are the dates we’re eying for cheap flight options to Cabo San Lucas:
As a friendly reminder, wintertime in Cabo is a bit more pleasant than in San Francisco. In December, Accuweather forcecasts highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s. The water is very temperate, too, with the temps in the waves ranging in the 70s. There are many sunny days, making it the perfect time to hit the beach, do some hiking in the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range, or dive into the surrounding nature — whether it’s along the coast or the coast itself (snorkeling and scuba are infinitely rewarding here). These months are also perfect for whale watching; peak season runs December through March.
